Prologue
The Green Act is the name for our sustainability journey we have embarked on. The name was chosen as it combines both our sustainable (Green) journey and our theatre roots (Act). The overall strategy is supposed to guide us towards becoming Green Key Certified and at the same time to reflect our goals and actions towards being more sustainable hotels. We wish to inspire our guests and
partners to join us in creating a more sustainable future, where luxury and eco-consciousness harmoniously coexist. We would love to have you join us on this journey, where every stay at Kolpin Hotels is an invitation to experience hospitality with a purpose — a commitment to preserving our planet while embodying our core values.
KITCHEN
Helenekilde Badehotel aims to reduce food waste through better sorting, reusing leftovers, and tracking waste patterns to minimize environmental impact. Through our partnership with Daka ReFood, food waste is given new purpose through circular solutions.
Housekeeping
The Housekeeping department continues to use PureTech to reduce cleaning product consumption, minimise waste, and support employee well-being. Digital housekeeping reports remain in place, helping reduce paper use and improve communication.
PROCUREMENT
We are continuously developing our procurement approach across our properties, with a focus on better supplier collaboration, transparency, and more responsible sourcing.
Moving forward, we will focus on increasing organic and regenerative procurement, improving supplier alignment, optimising logistics and stock management, and strengthening our work with suppliers on areas such as packaging reduction and sustainable alternatives.
ENERGY AND WATER
Since 2025, Kolpin Hotels has purchased renewable electricity for all properties, reducing emissions from our daily operations and supporting our efforts to lower our environmental impact.
THE GUEST JOURNEY
Since February 2023, we transitioned to a cloud-based HMS system, reducing paper use and streamlining operations. Digital registration cards and emailed invoices further minimized paper consumption. Partnerships with AeroGuest enables our guests to access information via QR codes. The partnership with Faundit aids in Lost & Found management, with an option to donate items and a tree planted for each returned package.
SINGLE USE PLASTIC
In July 2024, all single-use plastic toiletries were replaced with refillable, full-size bath products made in collaboration with a local Danish brand. This switch to refillable glass bottles significantly reduces plastic waste and supports the hotel’s mission to partner with local companies, with production and delivery being more sustainable. This initiative aims to ensure full use of the products.
EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
We focus on creating a strong and consistent employee experience across all properties, built on respect, transparency, and continuous development. Through initiatives such as the Green Act sustainability strategy, the Whistleblower initiative, Curtain Up onboarding, The Script, eNPS, Employee of the Month, and leadership development, we continue to support engagement, communication, and growth.
Moving forward, we will focus on strengthening internal communication, expanding learning opportunities, improving onboarding, and using employee feedback to continuously improve the way we work.
Epilogue
The Green Act embodies and defines the concept of sustainable luxury at Kølpin Hotels, centering on authentic guest experiences and environmental responsibility. We prioritize local craftsmanship and partner with those who share our eco-conscious ethos.
Our philosophy extends luxury beyond aesthetics, fostering awareness and a conscious workplace to elevate guest experiences and promote environmental mindfulness.
Green Act
Helenekilde Badehotel is proud to be certified with the Green Key, an international eco-label awarded to hotels that meet high standards of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation. The certification covers areas such as energy and water efficiency, waste reduction, responsible purchasing, and staff and guest engagement.
The Green Key aligns naturally with our green strategy at Helenekilde Badehotel: to create a refined hotel experience with respect for our surroundings.
